JUST SIGN was established by Brenda Mackay who has been in the field of Sign Language Interpreting for over 18 years - during this time the need to specialise within the legal domain was identified. JUST SIGN came into being in September 2001 becoming a limited company in 2004.

The ultimate aim of JUST SIGN is simple -
to provide the highest possible quality of service.

For example - In legal settings this is achieved by using only sign language interpreters who are Registered with SASLI (The Scottish Association of Sign Language Interpreters) or with CACDP (The Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People) and who have displayed a high standard of skills in interpreting between British Sign Language and English and vice-versa.

Just Sign is a 'Registered Agency' with the Scottish Association of Sign Language Interpreters (SASLI).

Brenda Mackay was a Research Associate at Durham University and contributed to two major projects on BSL/English Interpreting. One of these Projects and its publication, 'Equality before the Law', is acclaimed as a major contribution to the field of Interpreting.
